WICKED

Borrowed promotional image of Jemma Rix as Elphaba aka The Wicked Witch of the West.

Last Thursday night I headed along with the bf to see Wicked The Musical at the beautiful Civic Theatre, the perfect setting for such a magical show.  I’d heard so many good things from friends who had already seen it so I was quite excited and I was not disappointed at all, it was ah-mazing!

Wicked is the prequel to The Wizard of Oz and tells the story of the relationship between Galinda the Good Witch played by Suzie Mathers and Elphaba the Wicked Witch of the West played by Jemma Rix (Fun Fact: Jemma has performed as Elphaba over 800 times!!!). I loved how Wicked manages to blend the original Oz story into this prequel but still held its own story giving a new perspective on what you had previously thought about the world of Oz and its characters.

The set is amazing, costumes are beautiful and the performances from the two leading ladies were spectacular and seemed so effortless. Their voices were stunning and blew me away! I came away wanting to run away and join a musical or just have conversations with people purely in song form only. I’ve pretty much just been watching YouTube vids of this cast everyday since the show lol.

I don’t want to give anything away so I’m just here to say go and experience Wicked for yourself and thank me later!

Book your tickets now from Ticketmaster as it’s only on until the 24th November and I’m pretty sure this will be a sell out!

PS: I’m keen to go again so if you need a date, holla!
